Morinville is a town with a colourful history and a bright future. Loved for its outdoor and recreational culture, tight knit community spirit and fast growing industry prospects.
Settled by French pioneers in the latter 1800s (followed by a cluster of German settlers), Morinville pays tribute to its history with numerous living monuments including St. Jean Baptiste Park, the St. Jean Baptiste Church and the Morinville Historical and Cultural Centre. People seeking a view of early settler life will find many examples in the exhibits and arts peppered throughout this picturesque town. Morinville also has preserved numerous historical architectural buildings which are recognized throughout the province.
Morinville's strong economic base was sparked by the spirit of the early settlers and is fueled by the agriculture, transport and energy industries. Several national and multinational companies have broken ground here, and this encourages the flourishing small enterprises to push new innovations in these industries. Additionally, Morinville's burgeoning financial sector has established its footing over the last two decades, and this further strengthens the business community going forward.
Morinville's history and success come alive outside, where many of its residents will be seen partaking in activities throughout the year. The Morinville Agriplex serves hockey lovers, curling fans, swim students and court sports, but the outdoor amenities get incredible use, even throughout the winter. Parks, picnic areas, cycling trails and walking trails are plentiful, and offer neighbours excellent opportunity to connect under the prairie sky. The Cardiff Golf and Country Club and Terrae Pines Golf and Country Club offer discerning tastes the best of both worlds—and great greens.
Three of Morinville's schools are currently operated under the St. Albert Catholic Regional Division. Morinville has one public elementary school and another elementary school has been slated for construction as a part of the 55-school commitment of the the Alberta Ministry of Education.
